Lunch at Sushi Jiro

Greetings to ALL (you gastronomical people..me included)

Well recently..a friend of mine ask me out for lunch to Sushi Jiro Japanese Restaurant..

A brief description of this place.. its in Siglap (east-siders listen up!). If those who know where Cheesecake Factory is..yup it's within a few minutes walk from there. Carpark is big problem.. there is only space for the most 4 cars. I think you can probably park inside the private estate though im not sure about that.

Anyway..the restaurant isn't very big..there's like a sushi bar, 3 private rooms and another 6 or so tables..all sitting 4 to 5 people.. ambience is nothing fantastic but the FOOD is certainly delightful..

Well no pictures from me (i don't actually own a camera or even carry one everywhere) but i hope my description can bring u there (with me i hope :p)

yup..so i had the sashimi rice set...cost about $20 (its more affordable for lunch..dinner is pretty extravagant)

i must say...they serve VERY FRESH, MOUTH WATERING sashimi that are truly CRUNCHY and the ones that MELT in your mouth...really good!! and the tuna looked this fresh-RED! the portion is quite alright..but they have other small side dishes like miso soup and fruits and salmon stew (i think..not sure what is it..but it tasted good) so just the lunch set alone would give u a filling meal..

i happen to see another table..they ordered the small sashimi set (probably enough for 2 or 3) it looks very nice.. and i think it cost about $30 to $40..

i heard from my friend (he dines there a lot with his family).. he told me for dinner..its about 70 to 80 bucks per person but he emphasized that the food is really good!

anyway..there isnt any website.. or maybe i can't find it.. but i have the contact details..

in fact..i have the name card..if anyone is going.. i can give it to you =)

Friends

Hallo,
Better update this before I forget! I went to Friends Cafe over the weekend at Chomp Chomp, next to Cafe Cartel. It is certainly not a foreign place to the family since we go there for drinks all the time! Just thought putting this on the blog is more "official". This is a great place to go for drinks, desserts, snacks and it can usually accomodate a big seating (a very important factor for a huge family like ours!)

So here are some pics of the food from there...

Portebello Mushroom with melted cheese, salsa and topped with balsamic Vinegar. A juicy indulgence I tell you...

And Below is the extra HOT hot chocolate. Come on.. it looks nice already right? The group I was with also enjoyed the hawaiian pizza that was enough for about 4 people. The slice was thin and the toppings were generous. Came with ham and mushrooms.

Por Kee eating house

Hi everybody!

I want to introduce you to this Cze Char place at Tiong Bahru! Tammy, Helen, Yiu Seng and I went there for lunch on Sunday.

The quality of the seafood was good, especially the thai-style steamed sea bass ($30). We highly recommend it! We also had the claypot seafood ($32) which came with sea cucumber, fish maw, prawns, dried and fresh scallops. The yam basket was also not bad. They also recommended the champagne pork ribs but we didnt try (so much food already, how to try). We also saw from the next table this very shiok looking cold dish platter which costs about 60 dollars. So, we may try the next time! But if any of you are going...please invite us!

It is a small eatery with limited seating (please book in advance)

Sorry, no pictures. First time blogging. Dont know how to post. No pictures to post either. (Next person to go, help to add photos)
